INTRODUCTION:
For days we racked our brains trying to develop a storyline; it had to include existing characters, Tim and Chuck, created the previous year. And since we had no budget, we could never be near a glacier, let alone, create one with a Running Rainier trapped inside. Or could we?
One night it came to us, and by us I mean me, just start the story in front of a campfire after they've already done the deed. From there it was easy to tell the story chronologically: an open road; and a bar scene. It wasn't until after we sold the commercials and made the giant ice prop, did we discover that we could actually fake an ice cave, so we did that. It came out funny, yes?

After producing four spots, Rainier asked us if we thought there was any way to expand the story into a 22-minute short film. Of course, we said "yes." And that is how the film "Operation Liberation" was created. I wrote and directed scenes in the film. One of them stands out for me: There is a very famous Rainier commercial where a single shot of film captures a high-pitched motorcycle driving by. The camera is on sticks and simply pans right to follow the motorcycle around a bend. The pan shot lands on a perfectly framed image of Mt. Rainier. This is a famous road!

We set up a parody of this single shot, only with our two characters driving down the road in the red truck. As if to recognize the road, one of them says to the other "oh dude" and the two of them start making the sound of the high pitch motorcycle with their mouths. We successfully parody the famous commercial with our characters mouthing the sound effects.
